An ode to the American Blonde, this award-winning light bodied ale is a beer for all seasons. Oktoberfest originated in 1810 as a wedding celebration between the Crown Prince of Bavaria (where Munich is located), Ludwig the First, and Princess Therese. Spread out over two weeks prior to the first Sunday in October, the celebration actually begins and runs mostly in September. Today, millions of people visit Munich during the festival each year.
The Oktoberfest beer has caramel, toasty, and malty flavors, with very little sweetness in the finish and a dark gold to copper color. Technically, Oktoberfest beer can only be produced inside the city limits of Munich, limiting its production to six breweries. The brewers for AMB, cousins Nathan and Chris, can trace their ancestors far back into Germany's history. Their grandmother's maiden name is Von Watzdorf, and this noble family founded the Watzdorf Brauerei in 1411, and it is still operating today! Unfortunately, this brewery does not make an Oktoberfest/Märzen. In order to honor our German heritage, we made this seasonal Oktoberfest and named it the Von Watzdorf Oktoberfest. It has delicious, complex malt character with the smooth mouthfeel of a lager. Come, enjoy this beer, and prost to Oktoberfest!
Like Daniel Boone, this AMB flagship is a legend in the High Country. This brown porter is overflowing with dark aromas and has a creamy, persistent, tan head. Delve deeper and you will find a perfect balance between traditional English hops and the complex malt flavors, with a smooth balance between chocolate and coffee. You may not always drink gold, but when you do make sure it’s Black Gold.
The IPA was first brewed in the 19th century by the English. They would add massive amounts of hops to the beer for sailors of the East India Trading Co. to take on long trade voyages around the Cape of Good Hope to British colonies in India. Beloved by the red coats in India, this beer quickly became one of the most popular both at home and abroad. The antimicrobial properties of the hops helped prevent the beer from spoiling and saved many a thirsty sailor too. This IPA is of the American variety, using hops with more citrus and floral aromas to create a clean, smooth bitterness.
Coffee was introduced to India a few centuries earlier by Baba Budan, the namesake of this beer. A merchant and a smuggler, the legend has it that Budan brought the first seeds of the coffee plant from Yemen to India sometime in the 17th century. The collaborative brew between AMB and Fonta Flora brewery in Morganton, NC is named after him. Just as he brought the new flavor of coffee to the markets of India, we are bringing you this new variety of IPA. We took a true West-coast style IPA and infused it with 40 pounds of locally roasted coffee from Expresso News coffee shop in downtown Boone. The result is a delicious mix of roasted and citrus aromas in a beer that will delight drinkers of both.

Taking its name from the toast of the Old North State, this amber IPA cheers with a white head, citrus aroma, and an intense, resins hop flavor that will linger on your palate.
This Belgian Golden Ale has a spicy, floral aroma, paired with a persistent white head. The flavor has a mild malt sweetness with a distinct bitterness and effervescent mouth feel.
Just as Daniel was adventurous, this double is named after his pioneering spirit. It has a citrus hop bomb in the nose and a massive, resinous hop flavor. And despite the 9% abv, this is one crushable double IPA.
Brewed with American ingenuity and Belgian tradition, this Belgian-style IPA combines the best of both brewing cultures along with a bit of funk from the brett. Expect subtle notes of scuppernong grape skins, grassy American hops and grapefruit rhine. imbibe with caution, this refreshing beer will have you saying ‘hops’ one more time.
The nose of the Kilt It ale hints at a caramel malty goodness. It is followed by a medium-bodied, complex, smokey character that is reminiscent of a scottish ale.
This ESB is a London Style Bitter Ale. The malty aroma contains a hint of English Hops and the medium light body ends with a slight earthy bitterness. This is nothing compared to an American Pale Ale.
With a dark tan head, this Black IPA presents with ruby highlights and fruit-forward aromas. A hint of dark malts hide in the shadows of fruity flavors and hop bitterness in this smooth, seasonal IPA.

A brilliantly clear German-style Kölsh brewed with noble hops. It has a slight bitterness that is dangerously easy to drink.
This medium-bodied saison is as clear and crisp as a beautiful fall day. While it has a strong belgian character in the flavor, it finishes dry with the American Chinook hop.
This Saison is a cornucopia of new ingredients and techniques: Local grain from Riverbend Malthouse combines with open fermentation to give traditional Belgian characteristics. Lemon Zest, as well as blood oranges and pomelo, accentuate the fruity aromas and flavors.
Unfiltered, this clear, golden pale ale has a fruity nose of pears and citrus. It leads you into a smooth, hoppy flavor that doesn't linger, and that's why we like to call it a Good Deal.

Don't be fooled, it's not the Black Gold. Dark and rich, this winter seasonal is infused with organic vanilla beans to give a distinctive vanilla aroma and flavor to complement the roasted chocolate notes.
The intense aroma and flavor from citra, galaxy, and amarillo hops are not for the faint of heart, but this medium to light bodied India Pale Lager is as smooth and refreshing as a downhill ride on a wide open road.
This nut brown ale is a complex, malty ale with a mahogany hue that is soft on the lips. A balance of hops and chocolate malts leaves a smooth finish after a nose full of sweet chocolate and coffee.
We jumped right into our first collaboration with ASU's Ivory Tower Brewery by making a Northern English Nut Brown Ale. We added roasted cashews to give this complex, malty ale a little extra flavor.
This unfiltered belgian white is open fermented with unmalted wheat and malted oats. Coriander and orange peel accent the aroma while the light bodied flavor ends with a slight tartness. This yields an extra refreshing finish that complements the sweet summer of Boone.
Lil' Red might be low in alcohol, but she'll smack you in the face with a basket full of hops. A smooth hop flavor and bitterness help to lessen the blow of this session IPA.
This amber ale is bronze in color with a white lacing head. It starts off with a medium-bodied malty sweetness but leads into the subtle bite typical of a hoppy, west-coast amber ale.
Inspired by the traditional schwartz bier, a black lager, we introduce our winter seasonal smoked black lager. We smoked 100 pounds of base malt with hickory wood to add some wintery smoky character to this smooth, sessionable Smoky Mountain Schwartz.
This is an unfiltered blonde ale that is light and crisp. It is complimented by a hint of maltiness and carefully balanced with American hops.
AMB's first annual home brewing competition was completed in May for American Craft Beer Week. The grand prize: the winner would brew their beer with us on our ten barrel system. David Gardner, winning with his milk stout, had this to say:
"Having the opportunity to brew the Turtle Island Milk Stout with AMB was as enlightening as it was enjoyable. The experience felt truly unique, as I was accustomed to using my humble 10-gallon homebrew equipment. Making the leap to ten whole barrels of beer would make any amateur brewer feel like they were hanging with the big dogs. The best part about this beer is that the recipe came from my father – and I know that seeing it put on tap at the High Country’s premier brewery would make him swell with pride. So, sit back and take a sip. Let the full-bodied maltiness whisk you away from winter’s chill while the dark roastiness warms you and carries you into a smooth but not-to-sweet finish that will leave you craving pint after pint. Cheers!"
While similar to an American Brown, this version pulls from local home-brewers to create a much hoppier, citrusy brown ale. Amarillo and Cascade accent the nose, but a strong malt back-bone from a blend of malts and oats give the HawksBill a balanced flavor.
This famous West Coast-style steam lager has a distinctive spicy and earthy hop character. The subtle bready and caramel malt flavor blends perfectly with the clean, smooth, refreshing taste of a lager. This beer won a gold medal at the 2013 U.S. Beer Open.
Continuing with dark beers overtaking our taps, the dark belgian strong ale showcases dark fruits like figs and plums. The complex caramel and malt flavors complements the dark fruit character of the yeast.
Inspired by the traditional German Weissbier from Bavaria, El Jefe is a light and refreshing wheat beer. With banana and cloves in both the flavor and aroma, you will love this summer ale.
