Community

We are deeply involved in the local High Country community, and we are proud to be developing the area into a more verdant, healthy, and exciting place to live and visit. Here are some of the ways we give back to our community:

“Pints for Non-Profits”

In effort to give back as much as possible to the local community and larger Appalachia region, once established AMB plans to incorporate a program that allows a percentage of proceeds from each of our in-house taps to be donated to a specific charity or non-profit organization. AMB plans to use craft beer as a catalyst for creating change and helping those in need. This program also allows customers to have a sense of pride and encouragement knowing that every beer they purchase is directly helping others.

Involvement with ASU and the Fermentation Science Program

In addition to being Appalachian State University alumni, Nathan Kelischek (Environmental Science, 2011) has been working together for the past three years at ASU’s Ivory Tower Brewery. Nathan has a high regard for the science behind a craft beer and strives to use his educations from ASU, including the Brewing Science course, to propel AMB into the heart of the craft beer movement.

We hope to continue our close collaboration with the Fermentation Science Program (FSP) and Ivory Tower Brewery, in analyzing our brews, yeast storage and cultivation, and collaborative brewing. We hope to regularly have students intern at the brewery, allowing them to learn the commercial side of the brewing industry and gain valuable experience in the brewing industry.

AMB Venture Capital Fund

The Venture Capital Fund (VCF) is the non-profit arm of AMB. The company mission is to help vitalize the local community, the best way to facilitate that is by helping fund start-up businesses here in Boone, NC. With the VCF being open to all Alumni of ASU, through vetting their business plans and approving it through a Board of Directors we plan to help alumni stay here and not leave Boone due to lack of opportunities for new start-up businesses. “It’s all about sustainability, locally sourced and locally employed; the VCF is our vision of a local green economy.” – Sean Spiegelman
